Fischer-Tropsch to Lower Olefins Using Fe Catalysts

Fischer-Tropsch synthesis converts a gas mixture of CO and H2, so called syngas gas mixture, into a wide variety of hydrocarbon chains which may contain only saturated (paraffins) or also unsaturated C-C bonds (olefins). The hydrocarbon reaction products can serve as transportation fuels or as feedstock for chemical industry for value adding processes.

The current research project aims to resolve catalyst behavior and evolution under Fischer-Tropsch synthesis under industrially relevant conditions by using in-situ adaptations of methods suchs as Scanning and Transmission X-ray Microscopy (STXM and TXM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy. The gained knowledge is to be used for development of stable, selective, active and industrially appliable Fe catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis to lower (C2-C4) olefins.
