In April, Annelie Jongerius, who obtained her PhD in the group of Bert Weckhuysen last year, received a Rubicon grant by NWO. With this grant, Jongerius will go to Stanford University in the USA for 2 years to do research towards green fuels obtained from CO2.
Research
The gas CO2 can be converted into fuels and chemicals by two different chemical processes. In her research, Jongerius will investigate the similarities between these two reactions in order to develop improved processes for the production of green fuels.
Rubicon
The Rubicon grant by NWO is a grant for young researchers, who recently gained a PhD, to gain foreign experience. With the Rubicon, the researchers can do research at leading foreign international institutes for a period up to 24 months. The size of the grant depends on the destination and duration of the stay. During this Rubicon Grant round, 19 grants were awarded.
