In the afternoon of Sunday, July 12, the 17th International Symposium on Relations between Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis (ISHHC17) started with an opening ceremony in the Dom church in the city center of Utrecht.
Plenary opening lectures were given in the Dom church by Prof. Robert Schlögl and Prof. Jan van Hest. Afterwards, the guests were welcomed with a speech by the mayor of Utrecht, mr. van Zanen during the welcome reception in the University Hall and the Pandhof garden.
This was the kick off of the conference, which continued the next days at the Educatorium conference center at the Uithof. With an attractive program of interesting invited lectures, oral presentations and poster presentations leading to good discussions, a nice exhibition during the breaks and a good atmosphere during both the conference sessions and the social program, the chairs of ISHHC17 are looking back on a successful conference. The symposium attracted around 450 participants from more than 40 different countries, illustrating the truly international nature of the event.
